Beginner and 1st Timers

Suitable for boys and girls aged 4+ who are trying Irish dancing for the first time or those who are taking classes but have not yet completed their beginner light jig and reel.

Primary & Elementary 

Wed 11th & Thurs 12th of January

 

For dancers who already know their beginner dancers and have started learning primary and elementary level and heavy dancing.

Open Level

 

Wed 11th & Thurs 12th of January

For dancers who are already competing in open level competitions or are looking to compete at State or National Championships this year

  • Learning and perfecting the basic steps

  • Intro to posture and technique

  • Games and fun activities

  • Learn to stretch

  • Irish dance art & craft 

  • An intro to ceili dancing

  • Irish dance movie (long session)

  • Perfecting first dances 

  • Focus on dancing with proper technique

  • 'Feis ready'

  • Effective stretching and strength building 

  • Light and heavy drills

  • Ceili dancing - 4 and 8 hands

  • Choreography for elementary dances

  • Irish dance movie

  • New open choreography

  • New drills

  • Perfecting patterns and movement in steps

  • Strength building exercises and personalised programs

  • New ceili dances

  • Irish dance movie

  • All classes will be held at Canterbury Girls High School, Canterbury. Please use the Princess St gate to enter the main hall.  Registration will begin from 8.45am

  • Dancers should wear something comfortable to dance in. For shoes, Irish, jazz, ballet shoes all work fine or dancers can wear runners.

  • All dancers should bring a bottle of water, snacks and lunch.

  • Full information will be sent out in January.
