Beginner and

First Timers

Suitable for boys and girls aged 4+ who are trying Irish dancing for the first time or those who are taking classes but have not yet completed their beginner light jig and reel.

2 sessions: 9 -12 noon or 9 -3pm

For dancers who are already competing and those looking to compete solo at State Championships this year. Focus on finishing/perfecting the elementary/open level dances.

9am - 3pm

Register/Drop off from 8.45 am 

  • Learning and perfecting the basic steps

  • Intro to posture and technique

  • Games and fun activities

  • Learn to stretch

  • Irish dance art & craft 

  • An intro to ceili dancing

  • Choreography for elementary/open dances

  • Focus on technique

  • Light and heavy drills

  • Setting goals

  • Effective stretching and strength building 

  • Classees are held at Kennedy Dance School Studio in Canterbury.  The address is Unit 4, 186-192 Canterbury Rd. Rear access is available via Minter St. There is an area to drop dancers at the back entrance. 
     

  • Dancers should wear something comfortable to dance in. For shoes, Irish, jazz, ballet shoes all work fine for new and beginner dancers can wear runners. Experienced dancers should bring, light, heavy and sneakers.

  • All dancers should bring a bottle of water, snacks and lunch.
